Each one of us is longing for something more than second-hand experience, longing to discover truth for ourselves. That's why Precept Ministries is committed to the Inductive Bible Study method as a tried and tested way to discover what God is saying to each one of us personally through His Word. There is a wide range of Precept inductive Bible study resources available, and it's very important to chose material that fits your personal circumstances - in particular the amount of time that you are able regularly to devote to personal and, wherever possible, group study.
Our Shop webpage provides an easy-to-navigate index of inductive study resources & tools, which are also listed in our catalogue (available on-line as a digital 'flipping book', or off-line as a pdf download). For assistance in choosing the right study, take a look at our handy Bible Study Selection Guide.
Finally, 'Look Inside' pdf download links (see image on right) are available for most of the individual study materials listed on this website, so you can view excerpts of each study before you purchase.
Training Courses
From time to time, we run training courses and seminars which you might want to attend. Details are shown on the Training Courses and What's New & What's On pages. And, if you don't find the course you'd like to attend, or it's too far for you to travel, why not consider hosting a course yourself?! Just contact us and we'll be delighted to discuss the options.
Local Precept Study Groups
We most strongly recommend that, if at all possible, you join a local Precept study group, for fellowship and mutual encouragement. For a list of Precept Bible study groups meeting in Scotland click here. If none of these groups are near to you, please contact us so that we can discuss the options.
For those of you who, for reasons of geography or time, are unable to join a Precept Bible study group, there are now two ways to study with others by joining a 'virtual study group':
- Our on-line sky-PUP study group uses free-of-charge Skype internet conference calling to communicate ('sky-PUP' is short for 'Skype Precept Upon Precept').
- Our off-line e-PUP study group uses e-mail to communicate ('e-PUP' is short for 'e-mail Precept Upon Precept').

- Talk through the various types of Precept study (including 'sky-PUP' and 'e-PUP'), and recommend one that's relevant to you and your circumstances.
- Talk through the various training courses available.
- Visit you at home - often, it's much better to talk face to face!
- Come to your home or church (but - this requires the full support of your church leadership!), to assist you to establish a new Precept study group or to encourage an existing group.
- Come to your church and run a Precept training course.
